About AI Text Summarizer
Text Summarizer condenses long articles, reports, essays and meeting notes into a short summary with the key points. You read the essentials in a minute and decide whether the full text deserves your time.
How it works
The summarizer uses TextRank, a graph-based algorithm inspired by Google's PageRank. Your text is split into sentences, and each sentence is compared with every other one to measure how much they share. Sentences that are strongly connected to many others carry the central ideas, so they get the highest scores. The best-ranked sentences are then shown in their original order, so the summary reads naturally.
This is an extractive summarizer: every sentence in the summary comes straight from your text. Unlike generative AI chatbots, it can't invent facts, misquote numbers or "hallucinate" claims that aren't in the source.
What you can use it for
- Students: preview long readings and review chapters before an exam.
- Professionals: get the gist of reports, proposals and long email threads.
- Writers and bloggers: draft an introduction, abstract or meta description.
- Researchers: triage many articles quickly and keep only the relevant ones.
Tips for the best results
- Longer texts summarize better. Under about ten sentences, there's little to choose from.
- Use Short for a quick overview, and Long when you need the supporting details.
- Bullet points are easier to scan, and paragraph format is better for pasting into a document.
- Remove navigation menus, ads and comment sections when pasting from a web page, so they don't compete with the real content.
Remember: a summary is a shortcut, not a substitute. For legal, medical or financial documents, use it to find the important parts, then read those sections in full.
