About Color Palette Generator
Color Palette Generator pulls the main colors out of any image and turns them into a palette you can use right away. It gives you HEX, RGB and HSL values, matching color harmonies and ready-to-paste CSS.
How it works
The image is sampled and every pixel is treated as a point in color space. A k-means clustering algorithm groups similar colors together and finds the center of each group, the color that best represents it. The palette is sorted by how much of the image each color covers, so the dominant tones come first.
From any swatch you can explore color harmonies based on the color wheel. The complementary color sits opposite, analogous colors are its neighbors, and a triadic set is three colors evenly spaced around the wheel. You can also click anywhere on the image to sample the exact pixel under your cursor.
What you can use it for
- Brand and website design: build a color scheme from a logo, product photo or mood board.
- Matching visuals: pick text and button colors that fit a hero image.
- Interior, fashion and art projects: capture the palette of a photo you love.
- Developers: copy CSS custom properties straight into a stylesheet or design tokens.
Tips for the best results
- Ask for 5–6 colors for a usable UI palette. Use more when you want to capture subtle shades in a photo.
- Images with large flat areas (illustrations, logos) give very clean palettes. Photos give more natural, muted tones.
- Check text and background pairs for contrast. A palette that looks good isn't always readable.
- Download the palette as a PNG to share it with clients or keep it in your design files.
